Seen from above, Bodhan is a small, fairly dense core of lanes and market streets. Newer housing spreads out loosely toward open fields. Roads leave the centre in several directions and link it to villages across the Nizamabad district of Telangana. The pattern is typical of the Deccan plateau: irregular in the middle, then growing thinner and more geometric as it reaches the surrounding farmland.
The town is best known for sugar. The Nizam Sugar Factory, founded under the rule of the Nizams of Hyderabad, made Bodhan an early centre of industrial sugar production in the region. Its grounds and the housing built around it form a distinct block on the map. Local tradition also connects the town with Podana, an ancient seat mentioned in older regional history.
