Buluan is a town in Maguindanao on the island of Mindanao, in the southern Philippines. It lies in the lowland near Lake Buluan, a broad, shallow lake that shares its name with the town. From above, the lake is the largest shape in the area, an irregular expanse of water fringed by marshland and fields.
The town itself is compact, with a small grid of streets around a central area and roads running out toward neighbouring municipalities. Much of the surrounding land is farmed, and on a map it becomes a pattern of field boundaries, small settlements and rural roads between the lake and the higher ground.
