Cambridge Map Poster & Print
Cambridge, in southern Ontario, was formed in 1973 by combining the towns of Galt, Preston and Hespeler along with surrounding land. On a map, the three older centres are still easy to pick out, each with its own compact street pattern, linked by newer suburbs and main roads.
The Grand River flows through the city from north to south, and the Speed River joins it near Preston. Galt's downtown sits on the banks of the Grand, known for its nineteenth-century stone buildings, while Hespeler grew around mills to the north. Highway 401 runs along the northern edge.
A Cambridge map poster shows how rivers shaped a city: the winding Grand dividing east from west, the smaller Speed joining from the side and the three historic cores placed along the water. It is a layered, readable map of a place built from several towns.

Three old cores
Galt, Preston and Hespeler each keep a dense older centre, visible as tighter clusters of streets set apart by newer, more open neighbourhoods.
Highway 401
The major highway crosses the northern part of the city, a bold, straight line that contrasts with the river's curves and the older town grids.
