Çorlu lies in the Tekirdağ province of Turkish Thrace, on the rolling plain between Istanbul and the Bulgarian and Greek borders. From above, it is a city shaped by roads. The historic route between Istanbul and Edirne runs straight through, and much of the development follows it in long bands.
Over recent decades, Çorlu has become one of the main industrial centres of Thrace. Factory districts and organised industrial zones appear on the map as large, regular blocks at the edges of the city. Between them lie residential neighbourhoods, and beyond, open fields of wheat and sunflowers typical of the Thracian countryside.
