Crisópolis is a municipality in the northeast of Bahia, inland and not far from the border with Sergipe. The town at its centre is small, and from above it shows a short grid of streets around a main square and church area, with blocks becoming less regular toward the edges of the built-up zone.
Beyond the town, the map spreads into a rural landscape of small farms, pasture and patches of scrub. Unpaved roads link the centre with outlying communities, and they cross the countryside in long, slightly irregular lines. The area is dry for much of the year, and the land is generally open and gently rolling.
