Daggakraal is a rural settlement in southern Mpumalanga, on the open grassland of the Highveld between Amersfoort and Volksrust. It does not look like a conventional town. On a map, homesteads are scattered across a wide area, and long, mostly straight roads split the land into large blocks. There is no dense centre, and the pattern stays loose and even across the frame.
The settlement has a notable place in South African history. Its land is associated with Pixley ka Isaka Seme, a founder of the South African Native National Congress. In the early twentieth century he helped Black farmers buy land here, shortly before the 1913 Natives Land Act restricted such ownership. The local municipality now bears his name.
