Manzini is the busiest town in Eswatini, a commercial centre set in the rolling middleveld between the highveld hills to the west and the lowveld plains to the east. From above, its compact core is a tight knot of short blocks, with the Mzimnene River drawing a soft line along one edge and main roads fanning out toward the neighbouring towns.
The town grew from a trading post known in colonial times as Bremersdorp, and it served as the administrative seat of the territory before Mbabane took over that role. Its roads still show that origin: a handful of arterial routes meet in the centre, and residential neighbourhoods spread outward over the low ridges in looser, curving patterns.
