Danville Map Poster & Print
Danville sits on the Dan River in southern Virginia, just north of the North Carolina line. From above, the river curves through the middle of the city, with the old River District of brick warehouses and mills pressed against its banks and residential streets spreading up the hills on both sides. Bridges and a long riverside trail tie the two halves together.
The city grew on tobacco and textiles, and its warehouses and the vast Dan River Mills complex once shaped daily life here. Danville is also remembered as the last capital of the Confederacy for a few days in April 1865, and for the 1903 wreck of the Old 97 mail train, later told in a well-known ballad.
A Danville map poster brings together a strong river line, a dense historic core and the curving streets of hillside neighbourhoods. Main Street climbing west from downtown, the rail lines that follow the valley and the bends of the river make it a map with real character, and a good match for any of the five print styles.

River District
The historic warehouse and mill area crowds the riverbank downtown, a dense cluster of blocks that stands out against the looser streets around it.
Rail through the valley
Railway lines follow the river valley through Danville, the same corridor where the Old 97 mail train famously left the tracks in 1903.
