Getxo sits on the right bank of the estuary that carries Bilbao's river out to the Bay of Biscay. From above, the town reads as a band of streets running from the river mouth up along a curving coast, with sandy beaches cut into the shoreline and higher ground rising behind them toward the cliffs in the north.
Several districts share the municipality, and each shows a different texture on the map. Las Arenas at the estuary edge has regular blocks and a promenade, Neguri has larger plots and garden streets, and Algorta climbs around its old fishing harbour, where the lanes tighten into a small, dense cluster above the water.
A Getxo map poster places the Vizcaya Bridge at the lower edge, its thin line crossing the estuary to Portugalete. Opened in 1893, it was the first transporter bridge of its kind and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On paper the crossing is a single short stroke, but it anchors the whole composition between river, town and sea.

North of the estuary the coast bends into sandy bays and then turns to rocky cliffs, giving the poster a shoreline that shifts from soft curves to broken edges.
