Ridge-top roads
The main roads run along the crests of the ridges, which gives the map long, gently curving lines that roughly parallel one another.

Githunguri Map Poster & Print
Githunguri, in Kiambu County, lies in the highlands north of Nairobi. The land here is a series of parallel ridges separated by stream valleys, and the roads follow the ridge tops. From above, the town appears as a compact centre on high ground, with minor roads running along the crests and small farms covering the slopes.
This is farming country, especially for tea and dairy. Githunguri is well known in Kenya for its dairy cooperative, one of the largest in the country, which collects milk from smallholders across the surrounding hills. The small plots and hedgerows produce a fine, detailed texture on the map.
A Githunguri map poster traces the ridge-and-valley pattern typical of the central Kenyan highlands. It shows a town centre, the roads that link it to farms and neighbouring towns, and the streams running down between them.

Stream valleys
Between the ridges, small rivers cut deep valleys. These appear as open channels that break up the dense pattern of farms.
Smallholder plots
The slopes are divided into many small farms, which fills the frame with a fine, even, detailed texture.
