The through road
The road running west toward Daloa carries the structure of the town, with most streets meeting it at right angles and the densest blocks lined up along its length.

Gonaté Map Poster & Print
Gonaté lies in the Haut-Sassandra area of western Ivory Coast, a short distance east of Daloa on the road that links that regional centre with the interior of the country. From above, the town reads as a compact cluster of blocks pulled into line by the main road, with smaller lanes branching off and quickly thinning into tracks that run out into the surrounding fields and patches of forest.
This is farming country. The wider region is one of the heartlands of Ivorian cocoa and coffee growing, and the map reflects that: there is no ring road or dense grid here, only a working settlement whose edges blur into plantations. The contrast between the tight central knot of streets and the open land around it gives the drawing a clear, almost diagrammatic shape.
A Gonaté map poster keeps that shape simple. Rendered in fine black lines, the main road becomes the spine of the composition and the side streets its ribs, while the quieter ground around the town leaves generous white space. It is a modest subject, and that modesty is exactly what makes the finished print feel calm and honest on a wall.

Soft town edges
Instead of a hard boundary, the street pattern loosens gradually into tracks and footpaths, a pattern typical of farming towns in the forested west of the country.
Plantation country
The surrounding land belongs to one of the main cocoa-growing regions of Ivory Coast, which is why the map shows open space rather than suburbs beyond the centre.
