Hacılar is a town and district in Kayseri Province, in central Anatolia, just south of the city of Kayseri. From above, it sits on ground that rises toward Mount Erciyes, the large extinct volcano that dominates the region. Streets follow the slope, so the pattern has a slight fan shape, with roads spreading out and climbing away from the plain.
The town has an older centre of irregular lanes and newer residential areas with more regular blocks on its outskirts. Roads link it north to Kayseri and south toward the Erciyes ski area, and the terrain around it becomes increasingly steep and open. The contrast between the settled slope and the empty mountainside is clear on the map.
