Haikou Map Poster & Print
This Haikou is not the capital of Hainan Island but a town in Yunnan Province, within the Kunming area near the southwestern end of Dian Lake. Its name means "sea mouth", and it fits: the town lies near the place where the lake's outflow leaves and begins its course toward the Jinsha River.
On the map, the town fills a narrow strip of flatter ground between the lake area and the surrounding hills. Roads follow the river valley and the lake margins, and the streets are arranged along them rather than in a grid. Industrial sites and housing sit close together in the limited space available.
A Haikou map poster is a portrait of a small town defined by terrain and water: a lake outlet, a river valley and hills on all sides. It suits someone from the town who would like an accurate, unsentimental image of home.

River valley roads
The main roads follow the valley and the edges of the flatter ground, giving the town a stretched, linear shape.
Surrounding hills
Hills close in on the town and limit how far it spreads, so the built area stays compact and clearly framed.
