Khosta is part of Greater Sochi, on the Black Sea coast between the city centre and Adler. It grew where the Khosta River leaves the hills and reaches the sea, and the map follows that meeting point closely. A narrow coastal strip carries the railway and the main road, a valley runs inland along the river, and streets climb steeply up the slopes on both sides, following the contours in tight bends.
Khosta is best known for the yew and boxwood grove in the hills above the town, an old protected forest that is part of the Caucasus Biosphere Reserve. Its trails and gorges attract walkers who come for the shade and the ancient trees. On the map, the forested slopes appear as a broad, open area where the built-up streets stop.
