Kintinian is a town in the Siguiri area of the Kankan Region, in the north-east of Guinea. The land here is flat to gently rolling savanna, and the map shows it. There is a loose centre of streets and compounds, and dirt roads and paths spread outward over open ground. No hills or coastline hold the settlement in.
The Siguiri area is known across West Africa for gold, mined by large operations and by small-scale diggers, and Kintinian lies within that landscape. On a detailed map the settlement's edges often look irregular. Tracks lead toward mine workings and neighbouring villages, which shows a place that has grown along with the work around it.
