Kokologo sits on the open plateau of Burkina Faso's Centre-Ouest region, roughly between Ouagadougou and Koudougou. From above the town has no tight core. It loosens into clusters of family compounds, each a small knot of buildings, linked by unpaved tracks that fan out towards fields and neighbouring villages.
The land here is almost level, so the map's lines come from people rather than terrain. Footpaths and cart tracks cross the fields at easy angles, and a few broader roads cut straighter lines through them. In the rainy season, shallow depressions and seasonal streams mark faint curves across the plain, then fade again as the dry months return.
A Kokologo map poster shows a pattern that looks nothing like a European street grid. It is a dispersed web of paths and settlements, the way much of rural West Africa is actually laid out.
