Konotop Map Poster & Print
Konotop lies in the Sumy region of north-eastern Ukraine, on open, gently rolling land. Much of its growth in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries came from the railway, and the town is still an important junction. This shows immediately on a map: several lines converge here, and yards, depots and sidings take up a large share of the urban area.
The name also belongs to history. In 1659 the Battle of Konotop was fought nearby, when Cossack forces under Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky defeated a Muscovite army, and the victory is still commemorated. The town is built on a regular pattern of streets, with long avenues linking the historic centre to the station district and the residential areas around it.
A Konotop map poster turns the town's working infrastructure into a graphic image. The bundled lines of the railway, the orderly residential blocks and the patches of open land at the edges give the composition a strong sense of direction. It is a meaningful piece for anyone from Konotop, and an unusual, quietly industrial image for anyone who likes railway geography.

Station to centre
Long, straight streets connect the railway district with the old centre and draw a clear axis across the town, so its layout is easy to read at a glance.
Open plain edges
Beyond the built-up area the land opens into fields and scattered ponds, so the town appears as a clear shape on a broad, quiet background.
