Cherkasy Map Poster & Print
Cherkasy lies on the right bank of the Dnipro in central Ukraine, on the shore of the Kremenchuk Reservoir. The reservoir is extremely wide here, and on the map the water takes up almost as much space as the city. A long dam and bridge causeway runs across it to the opposite bank, making a single straight line over open water.
The city's streets follow a largely regular grid, laid out parallel and perpendicular to the river. The main avenues run away from the shore, and a strip of parks and green embankments lines the water's edge. Beyond the centre, residential districts spread inland, and pine forest begins along the city's northwestern edge.
Cherkasy is the administrative centre of its region, and the surrounding area is closely connected with Taras Shevchenko, Ukraine's national poet, who is buried near Kaniv upstream. A Cherkasy map poster captures the city's simple and striking composition: a calm urban grid facing an immense expanse of water.

Dnipro causeway
A long dam and bridge runs across the reservoir to the far bank. It is a single straight line over the water and the most striking feature on the poster.
Riverside parks
A continuous band of parks and embankments follows the shoreline, separating the city grid from the water and softening the edge of the city.
