Kryvyy Rih Map Poster & Print
Kryvyy Rih in central Ukraine is shaped by what lies underground. The city stretches along the Kryvbas iron-ore basin for more than a hundred kilometres, making it one of the longest cities in Europe. Rather than growing around a single centre, it developed as a chain of districts built next to mines and steelworks, strung along a thin north-south line.
The Inhulets and Saksahan rivers meet within the city, and the name refers to the curved bend of the landscape. On a map, huge open-pit mines, tailings ponds and spoil heaps appear as large irregular shapes alongside the residential blocks. The city is also known as the birthplace of Volodymyr Zelensky.
A Kryvyy Rih map poster works best when the frame follows that unusual, elongated outline. Residential grids alternate with industrial land, rivers cut across the ribbon, and vast quarries leave dark and pale shapes in between. The result reads as a portrait of a city built around its ore, quite unlike any other Ukrainian urban map.

Open-pit mines
Huge quarries and tailings ponds form bold irregular shapes beside the housing, a visible record of the iron industry that built the city.
River confluence
The Inhulets and Saksahan rivers meet within the city, their winding courses crossing the grid and adding softer curves to an industrial landscape.
