Leblon is one of Rio de Janeiro's southern seafront neighbourhoods, and on a map it is a tightly defined area. The Atlantic beach runs along its southern edge, Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas lies behind it to the north, and the steep Morro Dois Irmãos closes it off to the west. To the east, a canal through the Jardim de Alah separates it from Ipanema.
Within those boundaries the streets form a regular, slightly skewed grid. Avenida Delfim Moreira runs along the sand, and Avenida Ataulfo de Paiva serves as the main commercial street a few blocks inland. The short cross streets link beach and lagoon in just a few minutes' walk.
