Lormi is a town in Mungeli district, in central Chhattisgarh, on the plains that lie south of the Maikal hills. From above, it forms a compact settlement where the main roads meet, surrounded by a wide expanse of paddy fields, small villages and water tanks. The flat agricultural landscape gives the town a clear outline, with the built area standing out against the fine field pattern around it.
The street plan is irregular, typical of an Indian market town that grew over time rather than to a single design. Busier roads carry shops and markets, while narrower lanes branch off into residential neighbourhoods.
