Madison Map Poster & Print
Madison lies just west of Huntsville in north Alabama. It began as a small railroad town, and its compact historic downtown still sits along the tracks. From above, that original core is a small, tight grid. Around it, decades of fast growth have added subdivision after subdivision, full of curving streets and cul-de-sacs, joined by long, straight arterial roads.
The city's growth is closely tied to Huntsville's aerospace and defence economy, centred on nearby Redstone Arsenal and NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center. Interstate 565 runs along the southern side of town, and Huntsville International Airport lies to the southwest. The result is a map in which large infrastructure frames a mostly residential landscape.
A Madison map poster shows two scales of design side by side. There is the small, walkable grid of the old railroad town, and then there are the looping streets of modern neighbourhoods spreading across former farmland. Together they tell the story of how the city grew in a short time.

Suburban loops
Cul-de-sacs and winding residential streets fill much of the map, creating a fine, looping texture typical of recent growth.
Interstate 565
The interstate runs along the southern edge of town towards Huntsville, a long, heavy line framing the residential areas.
