Mandimba is a district town in Niassa Province in northern Mozambique, close to the border with Malawi. From above, the settlement is small and loosely built, with a handful of main roads meeting near the centre and houses spreading out along them. The surrounding land is open and largely rural.
Its position near the border makes it a stopping point for travel and trade between Mozambique and Malawi. The roads through the district link it with other towns in Niassa, and the town serves as a local centre for markets and administration for the villages around it.
