Mogliano Veneto lies on the low plain between the Venetian lagoon and Treviso, and the map shows how much a single road can shape a town. The Terraglio runs almost ruler-straight through the municipality, and houses, shops and side streets hang off it like branches, while the railway to Treviso draws a second parallel line close by.
For centuries the Terraglio was the route Venetian families took to their country estates, and many villas with long gardens still stand along it.
