Contour-following roads
The main roads trace the sides of the hills in long, looping curves. The terrain shows through in the lines even though the map has no shading.

Mu’er Map Poster & Print
Mu’er lies in the hilly country north of central Chongqing. Very little of the land here is flat, and the map shows it. Roads curl around ridges instead of crossing them, and buildings gather wherever the slopes ease off. The result is an irregular, organic street pattern, closer to a leaf's veins than to a grid.
Chongqing is known for layered, vertical terrain, and Mu’er gives a smaller-scale version of it. Built-up areas cluster along the main routes, while farmland and wooded hillsides fill the gaps. Seen from above, the contrast between dense clusters and open ground is clear, and it makes the town's outline easy to read.
A Mu’er map poster keeps that character without adding decoration. Winding lines, sudden turns and loose knots of streets hint at the relief underneath, even on a flat sheet. It is a modest place, and the poster treats it that way: an honest drawing of how a town settles into difficult ground.

Clustered settlement
Houses and streets bunch together in pockets along the routes, which gives the poster several small centres of density rather than one core.
Open hillsides
Between the clusters, farmland and slopes appear as open space. That breathing room balances the busier parts of the composition.
