Muggiò lies in the province of Monza and Brianza in Lombardy, just west of Monza and north of Milan. It belongs to the dense ring of towns around the Lombard capital, where one municipality runs almost seamlessly into the next. The older centre, built around a church and a noble villa, can still be picked out within the growth around it.
The villa, Villa Casati Stampa di Soncino, now houses the town hall, and its park is one of the largest green spaces on the map. Around it, streets form the irregular web typical of historic Lombard settlements, which gives way to more regular blocks, housing estates and small industrial areas.
