The river and its valley floor give the town a flatter base in otherwise hilly country. Roads and newer buildings follow its course.

Mungia Map Poster & Print
Mungia lies in the hills of Biscay, between Bilbao and the Cantabrian coast. It sits in the valley of the Butroe river, and the landscape around it is green, folded and scattered with farmsteads. From above, the town is a compact core with roads leaving it in several directions, bending with the terrain.
The centre is dense and irregular, which is typical of an old Basque market town. Around it are newer residential blocks and some industrial areas on the flatter valley floor. Past these, the map breaks up into small farm clusters and lanes that climb the slopes, a pattern that is characteristic of rural Biscay.
The Bay of Biscay coast is only a short drive north, and Bilbao lies to the south. A Mungia map poster shows a town set between the two, with its streets fitted into the valley and the hills rising all around.

Compact old centre
Narrow, irregular streets gather around the historic core. In black and white they form a dense cluster that anchors the composition.
Scattered farmsteads
Beyond the town, isolated houses and small hamlets are linked by winding lanes. They spread a fine, loose pattern across the green hillsides.
