Ouislane lies just east of Meknes, in the Fès-Meknès region of northern Morocco, and has grown in step with the larger city. On a map it reads as a collection of residential districts, workshops and industrial plots laid across level ground, with major roads linking it to central Meknes and to the routes running east toward Fès.
The town sits on the Saïss plain, an agricultural area known for olive groves, cereals and vineyards, and some of that farmland still reaches the edges of the built-up area. Much of Ouislane has developed in recent decades, so its streets tend to be straighter and its blocks more regular than those of the old medina in Meknes.
