Palopo Map Poster & Print
Palopo lies on the northern shore of the Gulf of Bone in South Sulawesi, and its map reflects a narrow setting. The city runs along the coast, with a band of streets between the water and the mountains that rise sharply inland. Rivers come down from the highlands and cross the city on their way to the gulf.
Palopo is historically associated with the Luwu kingdom, one of the oldest Bugis polities in Sulawesi, and the city remains its cultural centre. Today it is also a regional hub for trade and a gateway toward the highlands of Tana Toraja, which lie beyond the mountains to the west.
A Palopo map poster shows the coastline, the central grid close to the shore and the roads that thin out as the ground rises. The rivers cutting through give it a clear structure. It is a meaningful piece for anyone from Luwu, or for travellers who passed through on the way into the Sulawesi highlands.

Mountain backdrop
Inland, the terrain rises steeply, and the street network quickly gives way to a few winding roads climbing into the hills.
River crossings
Several rivers descend from the highlands through the city to the sea, adding natural lines and bridges to the urban pattern.
