Parras de la Fuente lies in southern Coahuila, in northern Mexico, where springs create an oasis in otherwise dry country. That water made early vineyards possible. The town is home to Casa Madero, founded in 1597 and considered the oldest winery in the Americas. Parras is also the birthplace of Francisco I. Madero, a leader of the Mexican Revolution.
