Piracaia Map Poster & Print
Piracaia lies in the northeast of São Paulo state, in the hilly country between Atibaia and the Mantiqueira range. The town sits in a valley, and from above its streets climb the surrounding slopes in short, curving lines, with no strict grid in sight.
The municipality includes a large reservoir that is part of the Cantareira System, which supplies water to Greater São Paulo. On a map the reservoir's shoreline is highly irregular, full of long arms and inlets where water has filled the old valleys between the hills.
Farms, small country houses and patches of Atlantic Forest fill the land around the town, and many residents of the capital keep weekend homes here. A Piracaia map poster shows water shaping the landscape: a flooded valley pattern that looks like branching lines, with the town sitting beside it.
