Porto Real do Colégio Map Poster & Print
Porto Real do Colégio lies on the Alagoas bank of the São Francisco, Brazil's great northeastern river. Across the water, on the Sergipe side, is the town of Propriá. A road bridge carrying the BR-101 connects the two, and on a map the pair look like mirror images with the wide river between them.
The town's name recalls its Jesuit past. The colégio refers to the mission and school that the order established here in colonial times. The streets gather close to the riverbank and spread inland in a loose grid. Wetlands and agricultural land extend along the floodplain in both directions.
A Porto Real do Colégio map poster is shaped by water. The river takes up a large part of the frame, and its sandbanks and islands appear as pale, irregular shapes. The streets and the bridge give the image just enough structure. The result is spacious and calm.

Bridge to Propriá
The BR-101 crosses the river on a long bridge. On the map it is the single straight line joining Alagoas and Sergipe.
Riverside streets
The town's streets pack together along the bank and loosen as they move inland. This shows how the town grew outward from the water.
