Qaşr Khiyār lies in northwestern Libya, on the narrow coastal plain east of Tripoli. From above, the settlement spreads across a landscape of farms, groves and scattered houses, with the Mediterranean a short distance to the north. The coastal highway that links Tripoli to the towns further east passes through the area and forms the strongest line on the map.
The land here is mostly agricultural, divided into plots bordered by tracks and rows of trees. Olive groves and farmland give the countryside a fine, even texture, while the built-up areas cluster along the main roads.
