Santana do Ipanema Map Poster & Print
Santana do Ipanema lies in the sertão of Alagoas, the dry interior of northeastern Brazil. The town takes its name from the Ipanema River, a tributary of the São Francisco that runs through the area and is often dry for part of the year. On a map, the riverbed winds past the town, and streets spread over the surrounding low hills.
As one of the main towns of the Alagoas sertão, Santana do Ipanema serves as a regional centre for the surrounding rural area. The map reflects this: roads leave the town in several directions, heading towards smaller settlements and farms, and the dense centre gives way quickly to more scattered building and open land.
A Santana do Ipanema map poster captures a very different Brazil from the coast. The river bed provides a soft curve, the streets of the centre form a compact knot, and roads stretch outward across the dry country. In black and white, the design is simple and clear, with plenty of space around the town to suggest the wide sertão landscape.
