Serasa lies on the coast of the Brunei-Muara District, close to the port town of Muara and the mouth of Brunei Bay. On a map the edge of the South China Sea sets the frame. Along it runs a strip of sand and shoreline, with residential streets and community buildings set back behind it.
The area is best known as a departure point. Serasa's ferry terminal handles boats across the bay to Labuan and the Malaysian state of Sabah, so the waters just offshore are marked by routes rather than by roads. Nearby, Serasa Beach and its water sports facilities are a regular weekend destination for residents of the district.
Inland, the settlement blends into lower-density housing, village roads and patches of vegetation typical of coastal Brunei. Main roads link it to Muara and to the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan.
