Sipe Sipe lies at the western end of the Cochabamba valley in Bolivia, where the flat, fertile valley floor meets the steep mountains to the north. On a map the contrast is clear: an orderly pattern of streets and farm plots on the plain gives way abruptly to open, empty mountainside with only a few winding tracks.
The town has a small central grid around a main square, a colonial layout found across the Andes. From there roads lead east toward Quillacollo and Cochabamba, and the built-up areas along them are gradually drawing the valley towns together. Irrigated fields, ditches and field boundaries fill the spaces between the settlements.
