Planned street blocks
Regularly sized plots and parallel streets give the township a clear, repeating pattern that reads strongly in black and white.

Thubelihle Map Poster & Print
Thubelihle is a township in Mpumalanga, on the high, open plateau of the South African Highveld. On a map it appears as a tightly planned residential area, with blocks of similar size arranged along straight and gently curving streets, and a small number of main roads connecting it to the wider region.
The surrounding landscape is broad and largely flat, and the drawing shows how the township sits within it: a clear built-up shape with defined edges, then open land, farm roads and the long lines of regional routes. This part of Mpumalanga is closely tied to coal mining and power generation, and larger industrial sites form part of the wider picture.
A Thubelihle map poster reduces this to its structure, the rhythm of the plots and streets and the space around them. It is a plain, honest portrait of a community, one that people who grew up here will recognise street by street.

Highveld openness
Wide, empty grassland around the settlement leaves the built area standing out as a distinct island on the plateau.
Regional roads
A few long, straight routes lead away across the plateau, linking the township to nearby towns and the industrial landscape of the region.
