Vila Real Map Poster & Print
Vila Real is the capital of its district in the Trás-os-Montes region of northern Portugal. Its old centre sits on a spur of land above the Corgo river, which cuts a deep, narrow gorge along the edge of the city. On a map the gorge is a clear boundary. Streets end at the cliff edge, and bridges cross the valley in long, straight spans.
From the historic core the city has grown outward across the surrounding hills, with newer neighbourhoods, avenues and the campus of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro. Just outside the city stands the Mateus Palace, a baroque manor familiar worldwide from the label of Mateus rosé. To the west rises the Serra do Marão.
A Vila Real map poster shows a city shaped by its terrain. The river gorge divides the street pattern, bridges stitch it together again, and the older centre stands out as a dense cluster on its spur. It is a considered map for students, families from the region or anyone who knows the road into the Douro valley.

Bridges
Road bridges span the gorge in straight lines and connect the older and newer parts of the city. They are among the most graphic elements of the poster.
University campus
The university campus occupies a large area on the city’s edge, with its own roads and buildings forming a distinct cluster on the map.
