Old town centre
The western part of the city has the densest streets. They include the historic merchant quarter of Fukushima, where traditional houses still line narrow roads.

Yame Map Poster & Print
Yame lies in southern Fukuoka Prefecture, where the rice fields of the Chikugo plain meet the mountains that rise toward Oita and Kumamoto. On a map the city has two distinct halves. In the west is a compact core of streets and railway around the old town. In the east is a large area of hills and river valleys, where roads follow the contours and settlements thin out into scattered hamlets.
The name is known across Japan for Yame tea, especially its shaded gyokuro, grown on slopes where mist and swings in temperature suit the leaves. The city also has traditional crafts, including lanterns and Buddhist altars. The area around it holds a notable group of ancient burial mounds, among them the keyhole-shaped Iwatoyama Kofun.
A Yame map poster brings together the order of the old town and the looser, organic patterns of the hills. Rivers wind down from the east, small roads trace the valley floors, and the dense grid of the centre gives the composition a clear focal point. It is a fitting piece for tea lovers and for anyone with family ties to this corner of Kyushu.

Tea hill country
East of the centre, roads follow river valleys into the hilly country where much of Yame's tea is grown. Here the poster fills with looser, winding lines.
Yabe River
The Yabe River flows west out of the mountains toward the plain. Its long curving line ties the city's upland and lowland halves together.

Many bar bolan karta
A map of Yame appeals to people who know the city through a cup of gyokuro as much as through its streets. It also records the landscape of a family home, a grandparent's tea farm or a quiet journey through rural Kyushu.
