Dense lane network
Between the main roads, Yongkang fills with narrow lanes and alleys. On the map they create an intricate texture that reads almost like woven fabric at larger print sizes.

Yongkang Map Poster & Print
Yongkang is a district of Tainan in south-western Taiwan, sitting just north-east of the historic city centre on the flat coastal plain. From above, it is almost entirely built up. Short streets and narrow lanes fill the blocks between wider roads, and a few larger arteries and a railway line cut through the dense mix.
Yongkang was a separate city before it merged into Tainan in 2010, and it remains the most populous district of the municipality. It combines housing, small workshops, universities and commercial streets. Freeway access and the railway make it a practical base between central Tainan and the northern suburbs.
A Yongkang map poster is a study in density. There are no dramatic hills or coastlines here. Instead, the character comes from the grain of the streets, the long straight lines of the freeway and the railway, and a few drainage channels that cross the flat land.

Freeway and railway
A national freeway and the western trunk railway cross the district. Their long, uninterrupted lines provide strong structure against the fine street pattern around them.
Drainage channels
Several channels and small rivers cross the flat plain. They show as thin winding lines through the grid, a reminder of the low-lying land beneath the city.
