Valley settlement
The town's streets are packed into the limited flat ground of the valley, drawing a dense, elongated core that follows the shape of the land.

Yuexi Map Poster & Print
Yuexi lies in the mountainous northeast of Chongqing municipality, in the dissected hill country that stretches north of the Yangtze in this region. On a map, the terrain is the whole story. Flat land is scarce, so the built-up area follows the valley floors, and there are no long straight roads.
Roads snake along contour lines and switch back up the slopes, joining the settlement to farming hamlets on the hillsides around it. Terraced fields and scattered houses cover the surrounding land. At poster scale this produces a pattern of fine, looping lines very different from the grid of a lowland town.
A Yuexi map poster suits anyone who knows the place and the Chongqing hills. The composition is organic: a narrow core where streets crowd together, then roads spreading out like threads through the folds of the land. It is a portrait of a town shaped entirely by the mountains it sits among.

Winding mountain roads
Roads leaving Yuexi follow the contours and climb in switchbacks. They form loops and hairpin curves that give the poster its flowing texture.
Hillside farmland
Around the town, small plots and terraces cover the slopes. On the map they appear as a fine, irregular pattern of tracks and field edges.
