Baniachang is an upazila town in Habiganj district, in the Sylhet Division of north-eastern Bangladesh. It is often described as one of the largest villages in Asia. The reputation comes from how widely its neighbourhoods spread across the land, not from a dense urban centre. On a map the settlement appears as many clusters loosely joined by paths and roads.

The area lies in the haor region, a low basin that floods for months during the monsoon, and homesteads are built on raised ground between ponds, canals and wetlands.
