Te mape
Duisburg sits where the Ruhr meets the Rhine, and the map shows the working side of that meeting. Long harbour basins cut into the land like the teeth of a comb, rail sidings follow the water, and wide industrial sites spread along both rivers. The port complex is widely described as the largest inland port in Europe, and its geometry dominates the city's centre and west.
Between these working areas are residential districts with tight street grids. The Innenhafen, the old inner harbour close to the city centre, has been reshaped with offices, museums and promenades, while its basin keeps its original straight lines. Across the Rhine, the western districts sit on flatter, more open land, connected to the east by a series of long bridges.
In the north, Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord has turned a former ironworks into a public park where blast furnaces stand among gardens and climbing walls. Gerardus Mercator, the cartographer whose projection still shapes world maps, spent much of his life here. A Duisburg map poster fittingly returns the city to the medium its most famous resident helped to define.
The Ruhr joins the Rhine within the city. A wide curve of water, lined with harbour basins, sits at the heart of any Duisburg composition.
Long, rectangular port basins cut into the riverbank in parallel rows, one of the most distinctly engineered patterns found on any German city map.
The former ironworks in the north appears as a large block of paths, rail traces and industrial footprints, now used as a park instead of a plant.

Aiheā Duisburg
Duisburg is honest about how it works, and its map is the same. People from the Ruhr hang it as a sign of where they come from: steel, water and neighbourhoods built around them.
Set your own title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps naming a district or a year. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the port's engineered lines particularly well.
