River through town
A river runs through the centre of Fenyi, and much of the street layout follows its banks, giving the map a strong line from one side to the other.

Fenyi Map Poster & Print
Fenyi is a county town in western Jiangxi, administered by the city of Xinyu. On the map it appears as a compact urban area set in a valley, with a river running through it and low forested hills rising on several sides. Newer districts extend along the flatter ground, while older streets cluster closer to the water.
The surrounding countryside is typical of this part of southern China: rice fields in the lowlands, bamboo and forest on the slopes, and small villages linked by narrow roads. From above this gives the map a layered quality, with the town as a dense knot of lines and the land around it drawn more lightly.
A Fenyi map poster captures the shape of a place defined by its valley. The river gives the composition a clear direction, bridges tie the two banks together, and the hills leave soft empty spaces around the edges. It is a quiet, balanced image rather than a crowded one, and it suits a simple black and white treatment.

Crossings and embankments
Bridges link the two sides of town at intervals, and the riverside roads trace the water closely, making the centre easy to read at a glance.
Hills around the valley
Wooded hills surround the built area, and on the map they appear as open space that frames the town and keeps the composition uncluttered.

Many people from smaller Jiangxi towns now live and work in larger cities, and a map of Fenyi is a way to keep the hometown in view. The river and the valley shape make it recognisable at once to anyone who knows it.
