Fontana is a city in the Argentine province of Chaco, on the western side of the Greater Resistencia urban area. The land is almost perfectly flat, and the street plan reflects it: a regular checkerboard of square blocks laid across the plain, with a few wide avenues leading east towards the provincial capital.
The Chaco lowlands are very wet, and water plays a big role in the map. Shallow lagoons and marshy low ground interrupt the grid in several places, leaving irregular, open shapes where streets end or bend around them.
