Great Wyrley lies in south Staffordshire, on the stretch of the A34 between Cannock and Walsall. The main road forms the spine of the map, running roughly north–south, and housing estates branch off on either side in closes, crescents and short cul-de-sacs. Older lanes survive among them and are easy to spot, because they bend and narrow where the newer streets run straight.
The area grew with coal mining in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and much of the present layout comes from the housing built during and after that period. Farmland and green gaps still separate the village from its neighbours. On a poster the built area therefore appears as a compact cluster with a soft, irregular edge.
Beyond the Midlands, the village is known for the Great Wyrley Outrages of 1903, a series of animal maimings for which a local solicitor, George Edalji, was wrongly convicted. Arthur Conan Doyle took up his cause, and the case is often cited among those that led to a court of criminal appeal. A Great Wyrley map poster places that story in its ordinary residential setting.
The Walsall Road is the longest continuous line through the village. Side streets and estates attach to it like branches along a stem.
Twentieth-century housing fills both sides of the main road with looping closes and crescents. They form dense clusters of short, curved lines.
Fields and open land around the village keep it separate from Cannock and nearby settlements, so the built area has a clear outline on the poster.

Aiheā Great Wyrley
A poster of Great Wyrley is for people who know it street by street: the walk to school, the road to Cannock, the estate where family still lives. It is a modest place, and the map treats it with the same care as any city.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a surname or the year you moved in, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. You can download all six print sizes for $9 or order a matte print, framed if you like, from a partner close to you.
