Koshigaya sits on the low Kanto Plain in eastern Saitama, close enough to Tokyo that its rail lines run straight into the capital. From above the land is almost perfectly level, and water does most of the drawing: the Motoarakawa, the Naka River and a web of older channels and drainage canals curve across the city, splitting its neighbourhoods into irregular islands of streets.
The old heart of the city grew as Koshigaya-juku, a post town on the Nikko Kaido, the Edo-era road running north from the capital. That route still shows as a long, steady line through the centre, with finer lanes branching off it. The city is also known for traditional doll making, especially the hina dolls displayed each March for the Girls' Day festival.
In the south, Koshigaya Lake Town adds a newer pattern: a large flood-control lake ringed by planned housing and one of Japan's biggest shopping centres. A Koshigaya map poster sets that geometric lake against the loose curves of the rivers and the dense grain of suburban blocks, a quiet record of how a commuter city has been shaped by water management.
The old highway that made Koshigaya a post town still runs through the centre as a clear, steady line, with the station district and older lanes gathered along it.
A broad flood-control lake in the south of the city appears as a smooth open shape, edged by carefully planned blocks that contrast with the older, looser street pattern.
The Motoarakawa and other slow rivers wind across the flat ground, their banks and levees drawing long curving lines that divide the city into distinct districts.

Aiheā Koshigaya
Koshigaya is a place people usually know from daily life rather than postcards: a commute, a first apartment, a family home near the river. Its map carries that everyday familiarity, and the calm, level geometry reads well on a wall without needing any explanation.
You can set your own title and subtitle, add a date or the coordinates of a particular street, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits a city so clearly shaped by canals, levees and an engineered lake.
