Saint-Jean-d'Aulps lies in the Vallée d'Aulps in the Chablais area of Haute-Savoie, along the Dranse de Morzine between Thonon-les-Bains and Morzine. The commune stretches along the valley, with the main road and the river running side by side and hamlets spread across the slopes on either side.
