Shakaskraal lies on the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, south of KwaDukuza and a short distance inland from the resort towns along the Indian Ocean. The land here rolls in low hills, and the map is shaped by them. Roads follow ridges and valleys rather than straight lines, and built-up areas sit in clusters between cultivated slopes.
Sugarcane has long defined this part of the province, and fields cover much of the countryside around the town, broken by farm tracks and by streams in the hollows. The N2 passes nearby, parallel to the coast, linking the area with Durban to the south and with towns further north. Farmland, highway and small settlements together give the area its character.
A Shakaskraal map poster captures this quieter side of the North Coast. In black and white the curving roads, the scattered clusters of houses and the lines of streams become an organic, loosely drawn pattern, far from the orderly grids of larger cities. It suits anyone who knows the drive through the cane fields and the hills that lead down toward the sea.
Roads bend to follow the hills, so the street pattern looks drawn by hand, with loops and curves shaped by the slopes rather than by a surveyor's grid.
Large cultivated areas surround the settlement. On the map they appear as open space crossed by thin farm tracks and the courses of small streams.
The Indian Ocean shoreline lies only a few kilometres east, and a wider map frame can take in the link between the inland hills and the coastal towns.

Aiheā Shakaskraal
For families from the North Coast, Shakaskraal is familiar rather than famous. A map of it records the roads home and the countryside around them, something that rarely makes it onto a printed map at all.
Add a personal title, a subtitle naming a farm, a family or a year, and your own coordinates line. Choose from five styles, from Classic black & white to the warmer Sand, and order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
