St. Marys stands on the north bank of the St. Marys River, which forms part of the boundary between Georgia and Florida near the Atlantic coast. The oldest part of town is a compact grid of shaded streets running down to the waterfront. Beyond it the map fills with winding channels, salt marsh and later neighbourhoods spreading inland along the main roads.
The town is best known as the departure point for the ferry to Cumberland Island National Seashore, Georgia's largest barrier island, with its wild horses, maritime forest and long undeveloped beach. Just to the north lies Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, home port for part of the US Navy's ballistic missile submarine fleet. Its large footprint appears clearly on any map of the area.
A St. Marys map poster balances two very different textures: the neat blocks of the historic district and the loose, branching shapes of tidal creeks and marsh. In monochrome the water becomes the dominant form, curling around the town and out toward the sound, with the edge of the barrier island beyond. It is a coastal print that feels calm rather than decorative.
The original town plan is a small rectilinear grid that ends at the river. The ferry dock and waterfront park sit at the foot of the main street.
The broad tidal river sweeps past the town toward Cumberland Sound. It marks the state line and gives the map a strong, curving edge along its southern side.
Salt marsh around the town is cut by many meandering creeks. On the poster these read as fine, branching lines, a delicate counterpoint to the straight streets.

Aiheā St. Marys
St. Marys means different things to different people: a Navy posting, a ferry trip to Cumberland Island, a quiet small-town home. A map poster holds all of those in one frame. You can personalise the title, the subtitle and the coordinates line to mark the chapter it stands for.
Blueprint suits the naval and maritime setting, and Sand picks up the colours of the coast. Classic black & white, Noir and Paper work just as well. Order the $9 HD download to print at home, or a printed matte poster with an optional wooden frame.
